Wow i love this thing! It plays all types of formats.

Like majority of people, my music and movies are on my external hard drive. The movies i have are in different formats and i really didnt feel like finding a program to convert them to a specific playing format. Thats where the viewsonic comes into play. No matter the format, it plays it. Quick USB connect and your good to go. Connect to tv by HDMI, componet, or old school rca. Even a spif (fiber optic) audio connect. Nice!

HDD accessing is a tad sluggish for me. You can create a playlist but you cant easily just add a folder to the playlist. You have to patiently select each file you want to play. Not nice if want to play 2 or more audio albums. Also wish when you push the "info" button it would display full screen or at least change from the file selection screen. File selection screen gets boring to look at all the time. There is a screen saver though but it doesnt display whats playing.

It does play in 1080p though and quite nicely i must say. It also recognizes the audio format thats in the movie file. So yes DTS, Dolby Digital, and 2 chan are recognized.

Lite and portable so its easy to take when visiting others or going on vay-k. Comes with a decent remote also. If your watching a movie and half to turn it off and get back to it later, it'll remember where you left off.

Some quirkiness but i still think its a great buy!
